POST NATAL MASSAGE from £50 "The one for new mum's"

The postpartum phase is considered the next 42 days after birth but can feel it lasts almost a year as you and your body adjust to its new role as a mother. You have just been through the immense experience that is pregnancy and childbirth, and although with your new born baby (maybe babies) the idea of booking a massage for yourself might be laughable; not enough attention is given to the new mum in this extremely precious time.

During a post natal massage your comfort is the number one priority; I normally work with you in a side lying position (much like during the pregnancy massage) and you will supported with pillows and bolsters. You can have a full body massage or we can focus on specific areas that need the most work. Massage during this post natal time can help your physical body by working with your spinal and pelvic alignment, the abdominal massage (if you choose this) can help prevent prolapse, encourage your uterus to shrink back to its pre-pregnancy size, and helps the abdominal muscles recover from the stretch and strain of pregnancy this includes diastis recti, having your back and shoulders massaged feels heavenly at the best of times let alone considering all the feeding, lifting and carrying you are now doing. On a more emotional level, taking time out for a massage may help you process any deep feeling of stress, anxiety, judgement or self doubt you have and offers you a calm and safe place to reflect on your birth story, including any birth trauma and allows you to simply relax and be nourished. If you have had a caesarean section then its best to wait to until after your 6 week check up before you come for a massage. Otherwise its up to you to decide when you feel ready to come. If you’d like to bring your baby with you this is also fine as usually they snuggle/feed/sleep next to you during the session, just discuss this with me prior to your session. If it is easier for me to come to you, which is quite often the case with a new baby, home visits can be arranged. Just get in touch to find a time and date suitable for you.
